My Journal
3 Year Cancerversary
May 27th, 2017

Well, I did it. Today is my 3 year anniversary of being cancer free and my last chemotherapy treatment. I feel better health wise than I ever have in my life. I am 47 years old and have lost 113 pounds in a year and 5 months. My cancer doctor marveled at my weight loss and how good I looked since she first started treating me in July 2013 and 311 pounds. I have worked hard at this and plan on keeping the weight off so that the cancer stays away. My next appointment is December 6th and my next test is next May as I have earned the right to get tested every year as compared to every 3 or 6 months. Things are finally headed in the right direction for me as far as this goes and my next goal is to be able to pass a functional capacity test with the state so that I may be able to work at some capacity even if it is part time it will be some sort of victory for me. My neck continues to be an issue for me but with this weight loss I hope that some of the feeling comes back and the nerves start to fire at some point. 6 years out of work is a long time to be out of work for. I'm just glad that the cancer is a non factor at this point of my life and is no longer a roadblock in my road to recovery.
