It has been a whole year since getting the tumor I named Igor out. Sometimes it feels like it was forever ago and other times it feels like just yesterday I was getting hooked up to go under for surgery. They removed the tumor, half my pancreas, a little bit of the stomach and gallbladder while leaving me with a scar from my belly button to the top of my trunk. It's about a foot long and everyone I show is really surprised to see it vertical instead of side to side... I guess everyone pictures pancreas surgery differently. I'm happy with how well it has faded but my bikini days are over. Not just because the scar but I think turning 31 comes with more conservative style I'm so happy that chapter of my life has past and even though the recovery was the hardest physically challenging thing I've ever done, it is wonderful to come out on the other side and hear "Cancer free" from the doctors. My family has been along for the ride and it makes me the happiest not being the cause for concern. My husband is wonderful and I could not have done it without him. I'm just like everyone else now dealing with this pandemic and I couldn't be happier
Just wrapped up part one of chemo. Took 9 weeks. The tumor is smaller and plan to meet surgeon next week. After recovering from surgery, I will complete part two of chemotherapy!
