When the pain wraps its tentacles around so tight, invisibly tearing you apart. And you have to learn to wait. Wait for the medicine to work. Wait for the chemicals to slowly pull the pain away.
And then the blissful silence. A moment of pure peace, when there is no pain. Just a moment to get your breathe and straighten up for the next attack.
And then you feel it;the niggling ache that you know is a tentacle of pain working its way around you again.
A never ending battle of chemicals. The exhaustion can be seen on our faces, behind the smiles and assurances.
God bless the doctors and nurses who see the pain and work diligently to make us more comfortable.
