Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia -- experiences, precautions, support.
September 3rd, 2016

On 15th july-13, my brother was sick with flu some medication is going but no improvement day by day becoming worse like fever, vomiting, unable to speak and walk, evening time severe sweating, cold these types of symptoms observed. we family members dint understand whats happening. A week later we contacted the general MD did some blood tests showing the reports was panic and unbelievable. Doctor started injecting blood packets, then became normal again a week later blood counts dropped severely. Doctor referred to KIMS they admitted in ICU situation became more panic 4 days later they shifted to room. Then started to perform tests including bone marrow then the result was out. At first they doubted but not confirmed, 3 days later they confirmed as ALL don't know the stage.

Its a blow to our lives mind is confused, don't know where to shift for treatment! totally blank. I know time is less to start treatment have to take decision fast. I felt like i was thrown out of the world. With the doctor reference we shifted to oncology hospital. Lastly, on Aug-13 treatment started once again they confirmed bone marrow with stage 2. We were some stable at that moment. Doctor started BFM 95 protocol treatment as it a lengthy procedure of 6 cycles. It took to 10 months to complete the treatment, Then Radiotherapy for 10 days.

1st cycle consists of steroids with chemo. During this cycle severs hunger and thirsty. Blood injection will be more. In 2nd cycle heavy dosages was used so that counts get reduced, Balancing the counts is tough task in this cycle. During this, fever, vomiting, head ache, hair loss, body pains effected more to complete this 2nd cycle. In third cycle, every week chemo for 1 month, but depends on counts this cycle will move forward.IN 4th cycle every 15 days chemo. Again 5th and 6th are same with less dosage. Chemotherapy itself is a challenging. Before starting chemo antibiotics will given for loose motions, vomiting and for fever. Then only chemo injection will be given. It is of 1 hour time. Every time finding a nerve of chemo injection is really tough task for sister, So doctor suggested a chemo port inside in the body which is inserted at chest. After two years this chemo port will be removed.

Finally its a worst experience, really really a challenging, tough, patience is more important. Have met lots friends who effected with different types of cancer, lost few friends in the hospital. This treatment is very expensive. Seen lots of people who cant afford money and left the hospital with out treatment. Even tough some money donors came forward that will help only for one chemo or for 1 week.

After 3 years, the ALL has repeated with 60% blasts seen in the blood the doctor said that use 6MP tablets other than that we cant do anything. How ever days gone well for 15 days after the bone marrow done. On 16th day the cancer cells damaged the spinal cord and made paralyzed. The days are going very scary. All hopes on god only.

Feeling EMOTIONAL to share that i lost my brother on Nov 9th 2016. Very sad that my brother left me ALONE.

So friends, try to help these people as much as can. The reason for cancer is unknown, A big big thanks to all the blood donors and also for my chemo friends, LETS FIGHT AND OVERCOME THIS CANCER
