3 ribs, half a diaphragm and a couple pounds of back muscle lost, round after round of chemo, a little bit of radiation and two years later. Things are starting to feel like how it was before it went bad( the second time). I was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at the beginning of my senior year in high school. I was just about to enlist in the military, but instead I had to engange in a different kind of battle. A battle in which I had to fight myself I was told I had only a 5% chance of survival, but I knew I was going to live and long story short, I did. I was pretty into fitness and being active before the diagnoses, being an MMA fighter. One of the hardest parts was becoming too weak to compete. Anyway two years later, I’m not able to join the military, but I am attending college for a degree in criminal justice. I started up MMA again and I’ve become stronger than i was before cancer. I have also become a camp counselor at a camp for cancer patients and survivors that I attended as a camper, called camp Mak-a-dream in Montana. (Highly recommend looking into that). Anyway to finish this up, the point of all this was to show patients and recent survivors that it really does get better. Just please be patient and never give up.
