IHadCancer is partnering with People Science this spring for a three-week self-care activity! Self-care is important, both during and after cancer. Challenge yourself this April to dedicate 15 minutes of your day to self-care!

People Science is an organization focused on science for the people, by the people. They create accessible technology for individuals to study how food and other complementary medicines impact overall wellness. People Science created the Chloe app as a platform organizations can use to easily create studies for their audiences. Anyone can download the Chloe app, view a list of ongoing self-studies, and choose to participate in the ones they qualify for. The Chloe app lowers a huge barrier to entry for individuals looking to learn about new complementary therapies.

Our "Spring into Wellness" study measures the emotional health effects of a daily 15-minute walking meditation or a daily 15-minute sound bath meditation. Participants will choose what type of meditation they want to participate in, track their emotional health for one week without the meditation, and then track their emotional health for two weeks with the meditation. The objective of this study is to introduce a new self-care activity to your daily routine, and see how meditation can help you in your daily life!

Walking Meditation is a form of mindfulness practice where you engage in walking slowly and attentively, focusing on the sensations of each step and the movement of your body. This practice cultivates mindfulness and awareness, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Research suggests that walking meditation can improve mood, increase attention, and enhance overall well-being.

Sound Bath Meditation involves immersing oneself in soothing sounds, typically created by various instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, or chimes. Participants lie down or sit comfortably while the sounds wash over them, promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and a sense of well-being. Research suggests that sound bath meditation can decrease anxiety, improve mood, and enhance overall mental and emotional health.
