Having to deal with cancer can leave you reeling with emotion. Sometimes, while wearing our patient, caregiver or survivors' hats we just want to yell, shout out our grievances. We love seeing how you get things off your chest in Dear Cancer, it helps us all heal. Now, the I Had Cancer team has a chance to tell cancer off in front of the web community!
We're so excited to announce that we are the 16th Annual Webby Award WINNER in the Community Category! Winners get to give one of the Webbys famous 5-word speeches, and we want your help in deciding what to say!
The Webby Awards
are to websites what the Oscars are to movies. We thought receiving a nomination alongside web giants like Flickr, Tumblr and Google+ was thrilling, and we almost fell over when we heard we had beat them out for the winning slot! It is a special honor to be the first-ever cancer site to be recognized in the Community and Social Media categories. The competition was tough, but the judges saw the important personal impact our budding social network is capable of and chose our site! The I Had Cancer community is powerful, effective and full of potential.
We're thrilled to represent the cancer community in the online space, but we have to say:
This award is not ours. It's yours.
Without each and every one of you, our community wouldn't be what it is today. That's why we want to hear what you have to say! The Webby awards have a famous tradition of 5-word acceptance speeches. We want to give cancer an earful, and we want your ideas. Check out our photo album of 5Words2Cancer on our Facebook page
